Noose Snare Traps in NY
A bill in the NYS Assembly, A.9258, would overturn current NYS law by legalizing the use of noose snare traps. These traps painfully choke and strangle animals, such as foxes, beavers, coyotes, raccoons and opossums. Traps are not selective and might also kill domestic animals or endangered species.
Snared animals sometimes suffer for days before death delivers them. Trappers use the term "jellyhead" to refer to the thick, bloody lymph fluid that swells the head and neck of these unfortunate victims.
Much of the U.S. is phasing out snares. NYS should not go backward by re-introducing these devices of torture.
