URGENT ACTION NEEDED REGARDING HYDROFRACKING FOR GAS

While Gov. Cuomo pushes to begin drilling in NYS in 2012, advocates to slow or stop this dangerous process have an important opportunity to comment on the latest draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). The deadline is Mon. Dec. 12. Comments can be made either by snail mail (USPS) or by going to the DEC website. It's a good idea to send copies of your comments to Gov. Cuomo, Attorney General Schneiderman, Commissioner of Health Shah and your own state Senator and member of the Assembly.

To comment online, go to www.dec.ny.gov/energy/76838.html You may comment on proposed regulations for fracking at the same time.

By snail mail, send to Attention: dSGEIS, NYSDEC, 625 Broadway, Albany 12233-6510.

For help in determining what to say, go to tinyurl.com/2011SGEISFlaws. This website also provides the addresses of Gov. Cuomo, et al.

If you don't have access to a computer, contact me and I'll send you hard copy of Roger's article.

Another way to comment is to ATTEND A HEARING ON THURS. NOV. 17 at 1p.m. or 6 p.m. in Binghamton at The Forum Theatre, 236 Washington St. There will probably be carpooling and/or a bus from Syracuse. Contact Lindsay Speer at lspeer@mrss.com, (315)475-2559 (work), (315)383-7210 (cell). There may also be a demonstration connected with the hearing; plans are not yet finalized.

Please take action for the animals, whose habitat will be destroyed, and for the people and planet.
