URGENT ACTION NEEDED REGARDING HYDROFRACKING FOR GAS

While Gov. Cuomo pushes to begin drilling in NYS in 2012, advocates to slow or stop this dangerous process have an important opportunity to comment on the latest draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). The deadline is Mon. Dec. 12. Comments can be made either by snail mail (USPS) or by going to the DEC website. It's a good idea to send copies of your comments to Gov. Cuomo, Attorney General Schneiderman, Commissioner of Health Shah and your own state Senator and member of the Assembly.

Protest Foie Gras - Feb. 14

People for Animal Rights will join a demonstration organized by Syracuse Animal Rights Organization to protest the continued serving of foie gras at L'Adour restaurant. Foie gras is made from the diseased liver of ducks and geese who are force-fed and then killed (unless they die first from their injuries from the forcefeeding). L'Adour has refused to remove this product of cruelty from their menu. Please contact them to ask them to remove foie gras.

L'Adour
110 Montgomery St.
Syracuse, NY 13202
(315) 475-7653
Fax: (315) 471-9713

Also consider joining a peaceful demonstration in front of L'Adour on Tuesday, Feb. 14 (St. Valentine's Day) from 6 to 7 p.m. (the occasion of a "Lover's Feast" event).
